How to make the most of our cheeks using blush. This versatile makeup staple can provide many looks from fresh and bright, to defined, natural and glowing.
LOOK 1. Fresh and bright
Choose shades such as apricot, peach or rose. These hues suit the majority of skin tones. Placement is the key. Smile at yourself in the mirror and apply blush to the apple of the cheeks. Load only one side of your blush brush with colour and use the clean side to blend. Blend lightly upwards towards your temples. Finish by blending downwards to avoid striping.
LOOK 2. Sculpted cheeks
Find your cheek contours by blowing a kiss and then applying blush on the line of the cheekbones. Blend upwards. Then add a highlighter, on the highest point of your cheekbones, towards the orbital (eye) area. Never apply blush lower than your cheekbones as this will drag the face down.
LOOK 3. Natural
We all crave that fresh-from-exercise healthy glow. Choose a blush that mimics the colour that your cheeks turn after exercise and gently apply. A quick fix is also to just lightly pinch your cheeks.
LOOK 4. Glow
Avoid using sparkly blush formulations. Instead opt for a cream based blush for a dewy glow. You can apply with your fingers as your natural oils help to blend as you apply. Start at the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards.
LOOK 5. Long lasting blush
Layering is key. Apply a small amount of sheer lipstick to the cheeks in the same colour family as your chosen blush. This will act as a base. Then apply powder blush on top.
